Subject: All-time fashion to become gas put of old Farmall

I must accept got some bad gas and my C sounds like a one-time two cyclinder John Deere. Information technology pops and smokes when put nether a load so information technology may run merely fine for a while. Just happen when I put in some new gas. How is the best way to drain the tank? Any additives I can put in the gas to help the gas run? Seafoam? Thanks greasegun

Better explain. There was a tread recently nearly getting crud out of a gas tank. Not smart to employ a shop vac.

Exercise Not USE A Shop VAC. Bleed the tank as much as you lot tin can then employ air to blow the rest out. Gerald J.

Siphon hose. They are bachelor in farm stores and automobile parts stores with a squeeze pump or seedling for starting the siphon, safer than sucking with your rima oris. Some work better than others. Plastic check valves tend to work badly in my feel with some vartions.

Otherwise unhook the fuel line from the carburetor and grab the fuel in a can for employ for other things than running engines.

Get yous some aviation gas, commonly called av gas or 110 ll (low lead). That stuff will burn like gas did 40 years ago, no booze. Might need some Curiosity Mystery Oil in the gas to go along the tank from rusting also.

I take had several of these tractors, C, Super C, 230, Super A. I take had them to run rough as you depict, and have had the occasional trouble with fuel. Usually you can take the elbow that transitions from the fuel line that threads into the carb, on that elbow should be a screen. Clean that screen while y'all have the fuel out. The best way to get fuel out is accept that fuel line off, and just bleed it. In that location are merely 4 bolts I remember that hold the tank on, take it off after draining and clean it, blow it out get it dry. If all this fails take the valve cover off and check to see that the push rods are not aptitude. I accept had more than 1 bend push rods, they will run but run rough when they get bent. The best thing I accept ever done was convert to electronic ignition on these engines. Hope that helps.

No,I suggest using due south shop vac to make clean upward non explosive stuff. Not everyone reads all the previous posts and may just never get to post hither again if it all goes wrong.....

When I was a kid we had an H that did this frequently. The cause was moisture in the distributor cap, merely a thought.

I am thinking a C should have a fuel cutoff under the tank and a drinking glass sediment bowl under the cutoff. You should be able to see the contaminates in the bowl. Cut the fuel off and remove the basin and clean it out. I think information technology should also take a screen to a higher place the bowl. You can open the valve and drain some out of tank with the bowl removed. The tank peradventure doesn't drain fuel from the very lesser and has a stand pipe that sticks upwardly a little means in the tank then you may need to take a siphon hose to get the h2o off the lesser of the tank. Yous might want to too remove the drain plug from the carb. I know on the side of the carb on the old Cub's at that place was a plug y'all could unscrew that was a jet that would need cleaning.
